Just over a year ago, I was exactly where you might be right now... exhausted, stretched too thin, and secretly Googling “how to work from home” at night after my daughter went to bed.
On paper, I was doing “everything right.” I had a solid career, I was showing up for my family, and I was hustling through each day like so many of us moms do. But deep down? I felt like I was barely holding it together.

At first, I bought into the same story you’ve probably seen a hundred times: pick a niche, grab a link, post some content... and boom, passive income. Sounds amazing, right? The problem is, if it were really that simple, everyone would already be doing it.
The truth is, affiliate marketing can give you freedom and flexibility... but only if you build it on the right foundation. Without the right strategy, you’ll waste hours chasing hype, get stuck in analysis paralysis, and end up doubting yourself before you even begin. (Trust me, I learned this the hard way.)

But First, Let Me Introduce Myself:
When I was getting started, I had no idea just how many options there were. I thought affiliate marketing was all about social media, so that’s where I began.
I even bought a guide with “viral” reels and spent hours reposting them... but it didn’t feel genuine, and honestly, it didn’t work. (And was a bit cringy looking back)
Then I discovered platforms like blogging, YouTube, Google, and podcasts... and I was thrilled! I realized I could play to my strengths...writing...and didn’t have to be on social media at all if I didn’t want to. (Still to this day, I am not!)
When you start, think about where you feel most comfortable. Visual? Try Instagram or Pinterest. Love stories? Blogging or YouTube could be your thing. Enjoy social media? Instagram and TikTok work great too. Pick one platform, learn it well, and focus there. I tried doing too much at once, and it just made things harder.
Next, think about what you want to promote. Almost every brand has an affiliate program, but I personally only promote products I actually use and love. This is the heart of affiliate marketing... if you believe in it, your audience will too, and they’ll get real value from it.
Also think about high-ticket vs. low-ticket items. High-ticket can pay up to 50% commission, low-ticket usually 3-8%. Don’t shy away from high-ticket, but make sure the company is reputable. Higher price doesn’t always mean higher value.
Bottom line... keep it real, keep it simple, and start with what feels right for you.
